House “to be”…

I’m soooo very excited to announce that this is the last post on the House “to be.”

It seems like only yesterday I posted my first pic of the lot being cleared, but that is not the case and I know this because we closed on the house Friday, what a joy!

Almost there…we will be moving very soon!

House “to be” - Progress Report

Although we continue to have regular rain, the roof is dry-ed in and assuming it does not rain tomorrow (big assumption) the shingles will be on by the end of the day.  Windows are going in and plumbing is almost finished!

House “to be” - Progress Report

The non-stop Seattle style rain is really slowing things down, but they still just keep chugging along…progress is being made!

The concrete has been poured, and the foundation will soon be complete. At current temperatures it will take about 10-12 days for the cement to fully cure. Once fully cured, they will come back and stress the cable to fully strengthen the foundation.

House “to be” - Progress Report

Forms set, plumbing complete, cables in place, grade beams dug, and plastic down…next step pouring concrete. With the impending cold weather we will likely have to wait a few days before the pour.

A new house “to be”…

A couple of months ago, after much prayer and consideration, we decided it was time to make room for our now bigger family…to that end we put our house on the market and less than 45 days later we are now living with my parents (yes that’s right, and no it has not been bad…what a blessing to have such great parents).

Over the coming months I’ll be posting pics of the progress on our “to be” new home. The house is being built by Meritage Homes, the same company that Katie works for…it turns out that it is a real treat to understand the internal processes of the company building your home.

The Lot

We expect the house to be finished some time in April. I’ll try to post updates on a regular basis as we go along. As of today they’ve set the forms and started the plumbing.
